Hello, I wanted to share my story in hopes of letting other fire and ems professionals they are not alone. I started in ems at age 16. I was running one of the worst stretch of roads in the country known as suicide strip for all the fatal accidents. At first it never bothered me as I got older and started relating to the victims and there families it started getting worse. I was dispatched to a suicide call and it was my brother in law. He had taken his own life with a high power rifle. Not long after I started sinking into a deep depression didn’t want to be around people. Started being ugly to my family almost lost everything I had. Most important my family. I finally decided to seek help. I was diagnosed with PTSD. Its been an on going struggle. My hope is to some day bring awareness to my area. Its hard to get people to understand but I feel the more we can educate people the better it will be. Until then we need to stick together.
