I am a paramedic and firefighter in the state of Florida I’ve been a fire medic for about a year now and I suffer from PTSD. I got trapped in a burning building there were two metal beams stuck on me and I did not think that I was going to make it back out alive. I thought that I was going to die in the fire but two other firefighters came back in and they got me out from under the beams and I survived with only two broken ribs and a sprained wrist.
I continue to do my career every day I don’t let what happened to me stop me from doing what I love so my advice to other thought EMS workers that suffer from issues keep doing what you do best don’t let your struggle stop you from getting up every morning and telling yourself that you can do this you’re not alone a lot of first responders suffer from PTSD so keeping strong communicate with your family members and your coworkers because they can help you when you need to help the most.
